Introducing the Nala Pride Collection

by Chloe de Winter Feb 01 2023

We started Nala because we felt that a truly inclusive intimates brand didn’t exist in Australia. And well, we wanted to change that. As part of that mission, from day dot, we have embedded inclusivity into all parts of our brand and try to inspire others in the industry to do the same. Whether it’s creating products for our trans sisters and gender diverse folx, platforming LGBTQIA+ talent or donating to organisations like The Equality Project, we are doing our best to celebrate diversity.

That’s why, when we heard World Pride was being hosted in our very own backyard, Sydney, Australia. We knew we had to go big. Very big.

Our First Ever Design Collab

We called up friend of Nala (well we hoped she’d be our friend) and jaw droppingly talented artist Kim Leutwyler and pitched her the dream - “a custom Nala Pride Collection with visual art printed directly onto three of our most loved Flossy Mesh products and 10% of sales being donated to the Equality Project and...” we went on but I’ll skip to the ending….she said yes!

Kim created this custom art, taking inspiration from the LGBTQIA+ community, their expression, vibrance, boldness and fearlessness. She tried to capture the excitement of everyone around the world coming to Sydney to celebrate pride, and channel it into her design. Pulling on colours that signify celebration, Kim went bold but also incorporated neutrals to represent different skin tones of people wearing the pieces.

We asked Kim what she’ll be wearing to Pride and she told us she’ll be wearing, “her Nala print, with an extreme leather harness and whip…we’ll see.” Anyone else holding out for those pics?!

Supporting The Equality Project

We’re always looking at how we can further support the LGBTQIA+ community so we decided to donate 10% of sales of the Pride Collection to the Equality Project. This incredible organisation is one of our special charity partners, and for good reason. Their mission is to create spaces for LGBTQIA+ communities, organisations, advocates and allies to work together, build bridges, and speak with a common voice, through national and regional conferences and training events. Nala was fortunate enough to attend one of The Equality Project’s training sessions and they have been instrumental in providing feedback and support to us along the way.

Introducing: The Pride Collection

We have three drop-dead-goregous, add-to-cart-immediately, kick-ass pieces in the Pride Collection. They are all made from our signature Flossy Mesh, a recycled material made from fabric offcuts otherwise destined for landfill. We give them a second (and far more fabulous) life as Nala intimates.

Pride Scoop Crop

This is where our ‘signature crop’ and ‘original art’ met and fell in love. Featuring our original Pride design, you’re going to feel your best ever in this everyday comfy crop. It’s an added bonus that this gender neutral style is in our signature flossy mesh making you feel effortlessly bare. Did we mention it’s reversible?

Pride Tuck Brief

Designed with our trans-sisters and gender diverse friends in mind, this brief is a wearable work of art. And while the construction of this brief is all business (providing gentle tucking and compression underneath), it’s all party on the outside, with our exclusive Pride design.

Pride High Waist Brief

It should be a crime for briefs to be this fab, we know. We thank artist Kim Leutwyler for that. Cut from our signature flossy mesh, this high waist brief sits effortlessly against the body, providing the gentle support that you’d expect from a great hug.
